Stephenie Meyer actually designed Bella’s engagement ring!

June 12, 2010 at 5:35 PM (Eclipse, Stephenie Meyer)

The engagement ring given to Bella by Edward in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, was a true labor of love, reports InStyle.com, requiring a prop master, five different jewelers, several samples and a multitude of research to finally get the glittering piece to perfection–and up to author Stephenie Meyer’s liking. The task of designing the antique engagement ring–described by Meyer in her Eclipse novel as a delicate piece “set with slanting rows of glittering round stones”–fell on prop master Grant Swain, who tirelessly researched Victorian-era jewelry before calling in samples and hiring four different designers to create various prototypes of the ring. But to no avail: Meyer, unimpressed with the model baubles, took it upon herself to draw up a rough sketch of the ring as she had envisioned it. The illustration was sent to Portland-based jeweler Rick Thurber, who used a computerized image of the drawing to create the end result — a stunning pave-diamond ring that was rushed to the set just hours before filming of the pivotal scene began!

‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ MPAA Rating Released

May 12, 2010 at 10:23 PM (Eclipse)

“The Motion Picture Association of America’s Classification and Ratings Administration released their weekly ratings bulletin this morning, which included a rating for the highly anticipated third part of The Twilight Saga.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse received a PG-13 rating for “intense sequences of action and violence, and some sensuality.” Both Twilight and New Moon were PG-13 as well, but for slightly different, and somewhat telling, reasons: Twilight garnered its rating due to “some violence and a scene of sensuality,” while New Moon earned it for “some violence and action.”

Confirming what the most recent trailer suggested, Eclipse’s rating indicates that the action quotient has been ramped up compared to the first two movies. It appears that Eclipse’s marketing will try to build on this in order to attract action-seeking males who have been unmoved by Edward and Bella’s love story up to this point. At the very least, more action may serve to make the movie more tolerable for the males that are dragged to see Eclipse.”
